Destination: Iceland

We arrived in Iceland on an unseasonably cold day, and quickly realized that we were vastly unprepared for the unpredictable "summer" weather, having only brought layering items since we expected the weather to hover around a manageable 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Because we arrived so early in the morning, the apartment we rented wasn't ready for check-in, and so we headed out into the cold, crisp air in search of breakfast (which we quickly discovered wasn't a common meal in Reykjavik) and fortuitously stumbled upon a great restaurant/cafe called Gata that served local fare as well as substantial portions of traditional breakfasts. Over bottomless cups of coffee we befriended the owner, Joey, and received great local tips on what to do and see and where to go in Iceland. We also got lucky and received a generous (read: absolutely necessary!) survival offering of a large duffel bag filled with his own supply of winter coats for our next day's plans.

Destination: Europe

After what feels like endless planning, we are off on a six week adventure abroad that begins in Iceland at the end of June and continues in Western Europe throughout July and into early August. This blog will document our journey with photos and insights (hopefully in a somewhat timely fashion, depending on our access to the internet) in order to provide our family, friends, and others interested with real-time access to our adventure as it unfolds. We hope that you will enjoy sharing our journey with us! -Adam and Christina
